Chemusa Shadow MP awards PSLCE outstanding students, pledges to cover fees for other 150

Aspirant member of Parliament for the Mbayani Chemusa Magasa Constituency, Lecherd Gwire Tikoma, has awarded three outstanding learners who were selected to National Secondary schools from Mbayani Primary school.
Tikoma has given the three learners a suitcase in front of the crowd that gathered at Mbayani Primary School ground to witness the launch of Football and Netball cups worthy K6 million in the area.
After presenting the gifts, he promised the parents in the area that he will also cover the school fees for other 150 learners who have been selected to Conventional and Community Day Secondary Schools as part of promoting education in the area.
“Educational standards in the area have been low due to unavailability of Primary Schools. We have one School where the population is very high so I will try as much as possible to add other schools to solve these problems.” Said Tikoma.
He also said that he has planned to maintain the road that is along the Mbayani Market as it is in bad stage and this just awaits an approval from the Blantyre City Council.
He promised that once voted on 16 September 2025, he will try as much as possible to develop the area as he grew up in the same area and knows what people in the area lack such as building bridges in streams around the area which he has already constructed 7 bridges.
The three learners that got the suitcases had two selected to Mzuzu Government Secondary School while one got selected to Karonga Secondary School.
Mbayani Primary School is one of the highly populated schools in Malawi which has at least 6 sections per class and accommodates over 10,000 learners in total.
