UTM presidential running mate, Engineer Matthews Mtumbuka, has assured people of Nthalire in Chitipa that the construction of the long-awaited Chitipa–Nthalire Road will be a top priority once UTM is voted into government on 16 September.

Mtumbuka pledged Nthalire Trading Centre, where he addressed thousands of supporters while unpacking the UTM manifesto.

He said the Chitipa–Nthalire Road has for years been used as a political campaign tool by successive governments, yet no administration has ever fulfilled the promise.

He emphasized that under the leadership of UTM presidential candidate Dalitso Kabambe, the road will finally be constructed in the first phase of a UTM government.

Mtumbuka further urged the people of Nthalire to vote for Kabambe, describing him as a proven economic reformer with the capacity to fix Malawi’s struggling economy.

Highlighting the challenges faced by residents, Mtumbuka revealed that his own journey from Rumphi to Nthalire via the Nyika road took nine hours, a clear demonstration of the suffering caused by the poor road network.

During his visit, Dr. Mtumbuka conducted whistle-stop rallies in Nthalire, Kapilikonde, Wenya, and Chisenga, where he called on Malawians to rally behind Dr. Kabambe and UTM in the upcoming September 16 elections.
