FDH Bank has donated K10 million to the Malawi Engineering Institute (MEI) to support its upcoming conference.

The two-day event, scheduled for 28–29 August in Salima, will be held under the theme “Leadership in Engineering: Breaking Barriers and Empowering Change.”

FDH Bank’s Public Relations Manager, Lorraine Chikhula, told Capital FM that the bank decided to assist the institute because they share similar goals in contributing to the achievement of the Malawi 2063 aspirations.

“We have supported the upcoming engineering conference in Malawi as a way of promoting innovation and development. We know that engineers play a huge role in this regard, especially in line with Malawi 2063, which also aligns with our FDH CARES program, where we support various initiatives in our communities, the economy, the environment, and our people,” said Chikhula.

Receiving the funds at FDH Bank’s offices in Blantyre, MEI member Mirrium Nsomba said the donation will significantly support the conference and the institute’s long-term development.

“Just knowing that FDH is partnering with us—not just with the cash, but in our future endeavours as we develop the country—we are grateful. This support will go a long way as we discuss and find solutions to Malawi’s challenges. As you know, engineering drives the economy of any country and is part of our daily lives,” Nsomba said.

MEI officials also highlighted the important role FDH Bank plays in advancing the engineering sector.
