Southern, central giants clash in Nico Netball Top 12 Semifinals

The race for the One Nico Top 12 Netball League crown has narrowed to four contenders, with Blantyre powerhouses Tigresses and Kukoma Diamonds set to lock horns with Lilongwe’s Civonets and Blue Eagles Sisters in today’s semifinals at Don Bosco Netball Courts.

The quartet booked their slots after dominant quarterfinal showings.

Diamonds edged Young Eagles 44-40, while Tigresses brushed aside Air Force 62-34.

Blue Eagles crushed Mzimba Queens 65-20, and Civonets overcame Prison Queens 37-30 to complete the semifinal lineup.

The competition, which began at regional level and advanced to 12 teams nationally, now sees only sides from the Southern and Central regions in contention.

The grand finale is slated for this afternoon, preceded by a third-place playoff.

With Nico Group of Companies committing MK1 billion to the tournament for the next three years, the Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) believes the event is vital for grooming emerging players who can feed into the national team setup.
