SRCL gears up for CAS Classic tourney

Preparations for the CAS Classic Chess Tournament are at an advanced stage, with organisers confirming that logistics and promotions are nearing completion.
According to the Southern Region Chess League publicist Dumisani Kadzombe, registration for the event is currently open, and at least 50 participants are expected to take part in what is being billed as a competitive and engaging tournament designed to showcase local talent.
“We expect a competitive and engaging tournament showcasing local talent. We invite corporate sponsors to support the event, offering brand visibility and community engagement opportunities.
We also encourage them to register their players and invite them to partner with us in future tournaments.” Kadzombe explained.

Companies are being encouraged to not only sponsor the event but also register players and explore partnerships for future competitions.
The two-day competition is set from next weekend, on October 4-5, at Ngaliya Lodge in Blantyre, where contestants will be competing in the Open, Women and Junior categories.
Organizers have staked a K500,000 prize for the Open section winner, while the Women and Junior section winners will walk out with K140, 000 and K50, 000 cash prizes respectively
