UTM’s Mtumbuka promises digital jobs for youth through global outsourcing plan

In a bold vision aimed at tackling youth unemployment, UTM Party presidential running mate Mathews Mtumbuka has unveiled a plan to integrate Malawian youth into the global digital economy through Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).

Addressing supporters during a whistle-stop tour in Ekwendeni, Mzimba, Mtumbuka outlined how the initiative would enable young Malawians to secure remote online jobs with international companies—without leaving the country.

He projected that participants could earn up to K200,000 a day by offering services such as customer support, IT assistance, and accounting to firms abroad.

“This program will allow our youth to earn up to $5 per hour, or about $40 a day, by providing digital services to foreign clients,” Mtumbuka said. “It’s about connecting Malawi to the global digital marketplace.”

He emphasized that the BPO strategy is already a proven model in countries like India and the Philippines and could be a game-changer for Malawi’s economy if backed by proper training and digital infrastructure.

“Under a UTM-led government with Dalitso Kabambe at the helm, we will ensure that the youth are equipped with relevant skills and tools to take up these opportunities. No one will be left behind,” Mtumbuka added.

He urged voters to rally behind the UTM Party in the upcoming September 16 presidential elections, promising a shift toward technology-driven job creation and a self-reliant youth empowered by innovation and foreign currency earnings.
