NBM plc anticipates networking opportunities for SMEs during the Market Day celebrations
Hiwa: We anticipate a great day
National Bank of Malawi (NBM plc) is hyping the upcoming Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs) Market Day at Gateway Mall in Lilongwe as a valuable networking opportunity for local businesses.
Over 50 SMEs funded by NBM plc are expected to participate in the event, which will bring together key sector players under one roof.
According to NBM plc’s marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager, Akosa Hiwa, the expo enables the SMEs to share ideas, explore collaborations, and drive business growth.
Hiwa said: “We anticipate that this is going to be a great day that is going to help connect the SMEs within the ecosystem, but also connect them to their customers and also connect them to markets that they have not been privy to.”
The high street bank dedicated the month of June to specifically supporting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), acknowledging their crucial role in driving economic growth.
This year’s celebration, themed ‘Business for MSMEs: Connecting the Entrepreneurs’, culminated in an SME Market Day on June 28.
Recently, NBM plc’s Chief Executive Officer, Harold Jiya, led a series of visits to selected SMEs nationwide, including Ziweto Enterprises Limited in Lilongwe, to foster relationships and understand the challenges and opportunities faced by these businesses.
Jiya made it known that the bank remains committed to supporting the sector through a strategic allocation of about K10 billion through its Development Bank to support long-term SME projects.
