President Mutharika mourns Malawians killed in South Africa bus accident

President Arthur Peter Mutharika and First Lady Gertrude Mutharika have expressed deep sorrow following a tragic bus accident in South Africa’s Limpopo Province that claimed the lives of Malawian and Zimbabwean nationals.

According to a statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet, at least 18 Malawians have been confirmed dead while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the crash.

The President and the First Lady have extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, assuring them of their prayers and sympathy during this difficult time.

“Their Excellencies join all Malawians and Zimbabweans in expressing heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones in this devastating tragedy,” the statement reads.

President Mutharika also thanked the Government and people of South Africa for their prompt response and humanitarian assistance to the victims.

He further expressed solidarity with the Government and people of Zimbabwe as both countries mourn the loss of their citizens.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary support to the affected Malawian families.

“May God Almighty comfort the bereaved families and grant eternal rest to the departed souls,” the statement concludes.
