United Democratic Front (UDF) president Atupele Muluzi has pledged to transform the lives of people in Chikwawa District, assuring them of a brighter future if elected as Malawi’s next Head of State.

Speaking during a whistle-stop tour across East Bank in Chikwawa on Sunday, Muluzi said the area has great potential in business and agriculture, but poor infrastructure has left residents struggling to prosper.

He pointed to the dilapidated East Bank road as one of the major obstacles to economic growth.

“People of East Bank have the potential to do business and uplift their lives, but bad roads are blocking progress. With your support through the ballot, things will change for the better,” he said.

Muluzi further promised that, under a UDF administration, hunger would be eliminated, the East Bank road would be rehabilitated without delay, and school children would have access to free education.

“There will be no more hunger, the East Bank road will be maintained promptly, and school children will receive free education,” Muluzi told cheering supporters.

Supporting his remarks, UDF Secretary General Genarino Lemani said the party believes young people hold the key to Malawi’s future and must be given more space to contribute to national development.

“The youth know where Malawi is headed, and we should let them take the reins. Under UDF leadership, they will have the opportunity to shape the country’s destiny,” said Lemani.

He also assured the people of Chikwawa that the UDF government would act quickly to address the rising cost of essential goods and services, which has left many Malawians struggling to make ends meet.

The whistle-stop rallies drew large crowds, with supporters expressing optimism that a UDF government could deliver the promised change.
