Flames seek redemption after Lesotho’s late blow
The Malawi senior men’s national football team, the Flames, needs a quick reboot and adjustment to their strategy to bounce back in the COSAFA Cup tournament after losing 1-nil to Lesotho.
Makara Ntaitsane scored the decisive goal in the 83rd minute, securing a win over the Flames in Yesterday’s tournament opener.
Despite dominating possession with 53%, Malawi struggled to create scoring chances, managing only two shots on goal.
In contrast, Lesotho had eight attempts, with three on target.
The win puts Lesotho top of Group B, while Malawi’s Flames find themselves at the bottom of the table.
Assistant coach Peter Mponda said, “We had good control of the game in terms of possession, but we lacked the finishing prowess. We need to make adjustments ahead of the next match.”
