President Lazarus Chakwera describes graduates from the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences –MUBAS, along with other intellectuals, as key catalysts for national development.

He made the remarks today during the university’s second congregation, held in Blantyre.

President Chakwera urged the graduating students to apply the skills and knowledge they have acquired to drive innovation and transformation across the country.

He emphasized his administration’s commitment to strengthening higher education as a foundation for socio-economic progress by promoting a culture of production that matches the growing demand for consumption.

MUBAS Council Chairperson, Yobe Kanyama Phiri, commended the institution’s growth and called on industry players to offer employment opportunities to the graduates, describing them as “ready-made products.”

MUBAS Vice Chancellor, Nancy Chitera, highlighted the university’s significant contributions to the country’s academic and production sectors.

Of the 344 graduates, 107 are female.

MUBAS became an independent institution in 2021 following its delinking from the University of Malawi.
