NBS Bank National Football League set to revolutionize local football

The launch of the inaugural NBS Bank National Football League is revolutionizing the football landscape in Malawi.
This second-tier competition, set to kick off on May 24, promises to bring a new level of excitement and competition to the local game.
The league will feature 12 teams from the country’s three regions, including three teams relegated from last season’s TNM Super League.
According to the Football Association, this mix of experienced teams and regional league qualifiers will undoubtedly create a thrilling competition that will keep fans on the edge of their seats.
According to FAM President Fleetwood Haiya, the introduction of this second-tier league is a significant milestone for Malawian football.
“The NBS Bank National Football League will enhance competition in our local game, providing a platform for teams to develop and grow,” Haiya said.
Haiya further said: “We are grateful for NBS Bank’s commitment to partner with us in implementing this league, and we look forward to seeing the impact it will have on our football community.”
The NBS Bank National Football League is set to become a breeding ground for talent, with players competing for a spot in the top-tier TNM Super League.
The league will also provide a platform for teams to showcase their skills and compete against each other in a meaningful competition.
With NBS Bank’s K982million sponsorship package, the FA and NBS Bank hope the league will make a significant impact on the local football scene.
The bank’s commitment to supporting sports development in Malawi has been evident in its partnership with the Football Association of Malawi.
The NBS Bank, governing body’s allies, through the Chief Operations Officer Shadrick Chikusilo said the bank is confident in its decision to partner with the Football Association of Malawi.
Chikusilo described the multi-million kwacha competition as a win-win affair.
He said: “This league will not only elevate our brand visibility but also enhance the quality of football in Malawi.”
According to the FA’s competitions and communications director Gomezgani Zakazaka, in the inaugural edition, Bangwe All Stars, Fomo and Baka City, which were relegated from the Super League last season, will be joined in the NDL by teams that finished from second to fourth in the South, Centre and North regional leagues.
The South contributed Red Lions, Ntaja United, and Ndirande Stars while the Centre ushered in Mitundu Baptist, Villa United, and Namitete Zitha.
While the North will be represented by Chilumba Barracks, Chintheche United and Jenda United.
