ACB secures court order to seize farm equipment linked to former SSCL board member, Henrie Njoloma

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has obtained a court order to seize public farming equipment allegedly diverted for personal use by Henrie Njoloma during his time as a board member of Salima Sugar Company Limited (SSCL).

According to a media brief released by the ACB, Njoloma, who also served as Chief Executive Officer of Greenbelt Holdings Initiative Limited, is under investigation for alleged abuse of office.

He is accused of irregularly acquiring equipment that was purchased using taxpayer funds intended for SSCL.

The equipment includes two tractors (MF290-4WD and MF4708-4WD), a mounted disc plough, a 30KVA canopy generator, and a ridger—collectively valued at approximately MK 74 million at the time of acquisition between 2018 and 2020.

Following investigations, the ACB traced a number of the items to Njoloma’s residence in Kaphiri, Area 38.

On April 2, 2025, the bureau secured a Preservation and Seizure Order from the Financial Crimes Division of the High Court, allowing the equipment to be confiscated and held by the State pending further court instructions.

Efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining implements, and the ACB is preparing forfeiture proceedings to ensure the assets are returned to the people of Malawi.

The Bureau has also published a notice in the Government Gazette, dated April 18, 2025, in line with the Financial Crimes Act.
