Governments of Malawi and Zimbabwe have reaffirmed their commitment to promoting trade between the two countries.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Patricia Kainga Nangozo and Zimbabwe Ambassador to Malawi Nancy Saungweme made the commitment on Friday at the celebration of Zimbabwe’s 45th Independence.

Kainga said the two countries depend on each other for trade and tourism, hence need to strengthen the ties.

“We need to strengthen the relationship between our two countries. We have so many things in common; we trade together, we promote tourism together, so it is imperative to remain attached,” she said.

The Zimbabwean ambassador to Malawi, Nancy Saungweme, has since extended a call to the Malawian business community to take part in a trade expo in May this year.

“We have a very strong relationship, there are more Zimbabweans who are here, and we want together to help each other achieve the 2030 development agenda.” Said Saungweme.

Zimbabwe gained independence on 18th April 1980 from Britain.
