CCAP Nkhoma Synod disowns ministers’ political visit to page house

CCAP Nkhoma Synod has distanced itself from reports circulating on social media and in the media alleging that 53 of its ministers visited Page House.
In a statement dated 15th April 2025, the Synod’s General Secretary, Vasco Kachipapa, categorically dismissed the claims, saying only six ministers were involved, and that they did so in their capacity, not on behalf of the church.
“The CCAP Nkhoma Synod leadership is dismayed and categorically refutes what is circulating in the social media and media houses that 53 Nkhoma Synod Church Ministers went to Page House,” said Kachipapa.
He clarified that out of 267 ministers under the Synod, only six individuals were part of the delegation. He identified five of them as serving ministers in various congregations, one as retired, and one as a person dismissed from the church in 2020.
Kachipapa stressed that these individuals attended the gathering as part of a pastoral fraternal they joined in their capacity, not representing the Synod.
“While they have the right of association, they violated the Synod policy by using the name ‘CCAP Nkhoma Synod’ to advance their political rights,” he said.
The Synod has since issued a stern warning to all its ministers against using the church’s name in political activities or gatherings without official authorization.
Kachipapa assured the church community and the public that the leadership is closely following up on the matter.
“The leadership is following up on the matter and an appropriate action will be taken accordingly,” he added.
