Malawi’s film industry has received a boost with the launch of Pamango Lodge, a 13-episode TV series airing on DStv, GOtv, and Zambezi Magic, supported by MultiChoice.
Premiered on Monday evening in Lilongwe, the crime drama tells an authentic Malawian story, marking a milestone in local television production.

Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu hailed the development as a major achievement for the industry, pledging the government’s full support.
“People will watch this series not because they have nothing else to watch, but because it is a well-executed production. The quality is outstanding—this is exactly what we need,” Kunkuyu said.
The President of the Film Association of Malawi (FAMA), Dorothy Kingstone, expressed excitement over the series, praising its high production standards.
“This is what we’ve been striving for, and we look forward to competing at an even higher level. For us, the sky is not even the limit,” Kingstone said.
MultiChoice Malawi Managing Director Averess Ndhlovu Chella emphasized the show’s role in showcasing Malawian talent to the world.
“There are 13 episodes, and through them, viewers will witness the remarkable growth of Malawi’s film industry,” Chella said.
Pamango Lodge is the second Malawian production to air on this platform, following Kulemera in 2023.
