Parliament debates Chakwera’s opening speech

Parliamentary discussions have resumed today with a focus on reactions to President Lazarus Chakwera’s address during the opening of the session last Friday.
Ntcheu Central MP Albert Mbawala stated that the President’s speech was in line with the country’s laws, as it outlined the government’s achievements across different sectors.
He further expressed optimism that within the next two to three years, Malawi will not only have enough food but will also be able to export surplus produce through the large-scale farming initiative.
Mbawala also highlighted improvements in healthcare and education services, noting that citizens are now accessing these without discrimination. Additionally, he acknowledged the increase in Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations.
