TRUDEM empowers youths with machinery donation

Apostle Arbert Mpende from Time of Repenting and Deliverance Ministries (TRUDEM) has unveiled his vision to empower youths in Chikwawa through vocational training and entrepreneurship.

To achieve this, Mpende has provided sewing machines and other equipment to young people during the graduation ceremony of students who enrolled in his vocational school at Domasi Trading Center under a project called Community Health Evangelism.

Apostle Mpende’s ultimate goal is to equip the youth with the necessary skills to become self-sufficient and independent, thereby improving their livelihoods.

“To ensure that the machines are used productively, we will leverage existing committees, which will act as our surveillance mechanism to oversee and mentor the youths, thereby guaranteeing the optimal utilization of the provided machinery,” said Mpende.

Speaking at the event, Mcnell Shire, the District Youth Officer, expressed his delight in witnessing the positive impact of providing machinery to young people, stating that it will greatly help them overcome financial challenges.

“Youth who were previously hindered by their struggles to access machines now have them at their disposal,” said Shire.

Shire mentioned that the Chikwawa District Council would continue supporting similar initiatives to further empower the youth in the district.

In a separate interview, Merifa Mkhwazi, a student who has benefitted from the program, expressed her joy at receiving a sewing machine, saying it will allow her to put her skills into practice and fulfill her dreams.

“I did not expect this, and I will do my best to take care of the machine,” she added.

The sewing machines are being distributed on a loan basis, with beneficiaries expected to make monthly payments for six months to complete the repayment.
