FPAM calls for collaboration to improve condom access for adults

The Family Planning Association of Malawi (FPAM) has called for greater collaboration to enhance access to condoms among adults, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding public health.

The appeal comes as Malawi joins the global community in commemorating International Condom Day today.

According to FPAM Executive Director Donald Makwakwa, both male and female condoms play a crucial role in preventing unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV.

Makwakwa urged individuals to renew their commitment to safer sex practices by making condom use a regular part of their lifestyle.

“We remind people of the many benefits of condom use in protecting their health during intimate moments with their partners. We encourage everyone to take charge of their sexual well-being by prioritizing safety,” he said.

This year’s observance of International Condom Day comes amid the U.S. government’s decision to halt aid to African countries, including Malawi.

International Condom Day is observed annually on February 13 to promote safer sex practices and encourage the use of protection to prevent unplanned pregnancies and STIs, including HIV.
