FAM unaware of any government directive on coach recruitment

Haiya: As of now, we haven't received any directive. It would be surprising if such directives were issued because the government had already transferred those rights to FAM
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) says it has not received any directive from the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) to halt Flames coach recruitment processes.
Reports say MNCS has made the directive as some recruitment procedures were flouted by the football governing body.
For example, MNCS says the post was not advertised as it is required by law hence halting move.
FAM President Fleetwood Haiya emphasized that the association remains in charge of the recruitment process, as the government had already ceded those responsibilities.
“As of now, we haven’t received any directive. It would be surprising if such directives were issued because the government had already transferred those rights to FAM,” Haiya said.
He further noted that the government publicly acknowledged this decision, with the Minister of Sports recently reaffirming that FAM has full authority over hiring national team coaches—including those for football, futsal, and beach soccer.
While there are uncertainties on whether the process has been halted, Haiya assured that FAM has not stopped any recruitment proceedings.
“We will probably this week officially announce the coach of the national football team,” said Haiya.
Last week, the FAM boss said Zimbabwean tactician, Kalisto Pasuwa accepted a two-year contract to serve on the post.
