CRFA, SRFA set for elective general assemblies

Football Associations in Central and Southern regions are gearing up for an elective general assembly, scheduled to take place on February 8, 2025, in Dowa and Mangochi districts, respectively.
Football enthusiasts and stakeholders are expecting the events, which will see a new leadership team take charge of the regions’ football affairs.
With multiple candidates vying for key positions, the elections are expected to be closely contested.
The battle for the Central Region Football Association (CRFA) chairman position will see Austin Bitoni Ajawa face off against Goodall Chinjoka, both of whom have expressed their commitment to advancing regional football.
The vice chairman position has also drawn strong contenders, with Abel Chiumia and Gift Jere set to go head-to-head in the race.
In the General Secretary category, Antonio Manda and Christopher Njeula are seeking to claim the prestigious role, while the position of Vice General Secretary will be contested between Wales Kazonde and Williams Kapenuka.
The treasurer role of the association will see Charles Selemani and Hastings Chilunga competing
Additionally, Bwanali Missi and Chulu Mkangama will battle it out for the Vice Treasurer position.
The election will also see a list of notable individuals vying for membership positions and among them are Joe Twaibu Iaussi, Kondwani Kandiado, Esther Chirwa, Tseka Jickson Aluya, Moses Kapatamoyo, Gracium Gwaza, Paul Kampira, and Anthony Midway Manda.
In the Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) elections, there will also be a contested affair.
Dyless Kachala is the sole candidate for the Chairperson position, while Patrick Mbalati is contesting as Vice Chairperson.
The General Secretary position will see a showdown between Ishmael Sande and Alec Chikopa. Hussein Ballack is in the running for Vice General Secretary.
Financial stewardship is crucial, and Pharaoh Phiri is vying for the Treasurer role. Meanwhile, Tiziona Banda and Anderson Chuma will go head-to-head for Vice Treasurer.
Sadatie Bonzo, Joy Mpinganjira, Charles Mankhwala, Clemence Chabisala, Anthony Kafuwa, and Evance Sulani are also joining the committee unopposed as the laws say they should be six.
