Nyale Institute introduces manual book for abortion laws

A new manual designed to enhance understanding of Malawi’s legal framework on abortion, particularly concerning survivors of rape, has been introduced by Nyale Institute with support from Amplify Change.

The publication, titled “Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights under Malawi’s Legal Framework,” aims to equip civil society leaders, healthcare providers, and policymakers with critical legal knowledge on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

Nyale Institute Executive Director, Godfrey Kangaude, emphasized that the manual fills a crucial gap in advocacy efforts, ensuring that stakeholders are well-informed on the constitutional provisions, the role of the Malawi Human Rights Commission, and legal considerations surrounding safe abortion for minors and rape survivors.

“Our goal is to bridge the knowledge gap and provide a clear legal perspective on SRHR to enhance informed decision-making,” said Kangaude.

To maximize accessibility, the manual is available in digital format, with downloadable copies provided through online platforms.
