Ministry of Gender urges parents in Mangochi district to enrol children in CBCCS

Deputy Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Halima Daudi, has urged parents and guardians in Mangochi to enroll their children in Community-Based Childcare Centres (CBCCs).
Addressing parents and guardians at Chindamba in Traditional Authority Chowe, Mangochi, during her familiarization tour on Tuesday, Daudi called for collaborative efforts among stakeholders to promote the welfare of children.
She stressed that investing in early childhood education is key to supporting children’s growth and development.
Daudi expressed her admiration for the active role that the community and Chindamba CBCC caregivers are playing in delivering early childhood education.
“We are thrilled with the progress we’re seeing in Mangochi, where there are 15 active early childhood development centres. However, we still need more of these centres to meet the growing demand. We are grateful to the World Bank for their support in infrastructure development for early childhood education.” She said.
The Deputy Minister also highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to improving ECD through the training of CBCC caregivers.
She noted that the initiative is being rolled out in phases to ensure that all caregivers are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective early childhood education.
In his remarks, Senior Chief Chowe praised the government’s efforts to improve ECD, noting that the intervention is already yielding positive results in Mangochi.
