EGENCO restores Kapichira Power Station to full capacity

The Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO) has reported the full restoration of Kapichira Power Station to 100% generating capacity.
The company shut down Kapichira Unit 1 on 29 December 2024 due to abnormal noise. The unit underwent extensive repairs and was successfully restored yesterday evening.
In a statement, EGENCO attributed the success of the operation to its technical teams, who conducted thorough inspections, maintenance, and comprehensive repairs to resolve the issues affecting the unit.
“We are pleased to report that all machinery is now functioning at optimal levels. We would like to extend our gratitude to our stakeholders for their patience and understanding during this period,” the statement reads.
The company emphasized its continued commitment to ensuring a stable electricity supply and supporting Malawi’s growth and development.
