The penultimate week of the Goshen League (Central) Women’s Football 2024 season delivered drama, goals, and suspense as teams battled for glory in Week 21 matches.

At the weekend, MDF Lioness FC emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against Ascent Academy FC, clinching a 4-3 win.

Star player Asimenye Simwaka delivered a stellar performance, scoring a hat trick with goals in the 20th, 26th, and 42nd minutes.

Doreen Dickson added the fourth goal in the 49th minute, sealing the Lioness’ hard-fought victory.
Ascent Academy’s efforts came through Melisa Lickson (32’), Alepha Chimbeta (45’), and Leticia Chinyamula (61’).

Civil Service Women’s FC and Silver Strikers Ladies played out a 1-1 draw. Anna Baziliyo put Civil Service in the lead in the 28th minute, only for Deborah Henry to equalize for Silver Strikers in the 34th.

FACT Football Academy suffered a narrow defeat to CRECK Sporting Ladies, losing 2-1. Memory Malenga and Farai Phiri scored for CRECK, while Evelyn Dallas’ 85th-minute effort was too late to inspire a comeback.

Blue Eagles Ladies showcased their dominance with a commanding 3-0 victory over Hungry Lion FC. Goals from Jenin Mwale (65’), Stella Mkusa (75’), and Jestica Bwanali (78’) secured the win, keeping Blue Eagles Ladies in top form.

In the midweek fixtures:

  • Blue Eagles Ladies vs. FACT Football FC at Nankhaka Stadium.
  • Silver Strikers Ladies vs. MDF Lioness FC at Silver Stadium.
  • Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos SQ vs. Hungry Lions at Dedza Stadium.
  • Civil Service Women’s FC vs. Ascent Academy FC at Civo Stadium.

The league organizers have been impressed by the skill and determination of women footballers across the Central region.
