PDP condemns violence against MCP women in Ndirande

The People’s Development Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the recent attack on Malawi Congress Party (MCP) women in Ndirande.

The incident occurred on Wednesday as the women were en route to the Chilembwe Day commemorations in Chiradzulu.

In a statement issued by PDP National Publicity Secretary Rhodes Msonkho, the party described the attack as an affront to democracy, emphasizing that freedom of association and movement are cornerstones of Malawi’s democratic values.

The PDP called for unity among Malawians, urging them to prioritize what binds the nation over political differences.

“How would you feel if it were your members or loved ones facing such attacks?” Reads part of the statement.

The PDP urged women’s rights organizations to condemn the attacks and demand justice while calling on law enforcement to act swiftly and decisively.

“Accountability is essential to uphold justice and deter future political violence,” the statement concluded.
