Bushiri criticizes South African media bias over FNB Stadium Crowds

Founder of ECG church -Prophet Shepherd Bushiri

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has criticized the South African media for what he described as biased reporting, following their celebration of Chris Brown’s concert at FNB Stadium, which drew 94,000 attendees. In a post on his Facebook page, the controversial preacher accused the media of ignoring his larger gatherings at the same venue during his Crossover Night prayers.

“So Chris Brown’s concert at FNB Stadium drew a crowd of 94,000, and the South African weirdo media is going crazy, crowning him ‘the biggest crowd-puller.’ What a shame,” Bushiri wrote.

The leader of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church claimed his religious gatherings at FNB Stadium had drawn record-breaking numbers of 110,000 attendees for four consecutive years. Despite FNB Management publicly displaying these figures, Bushiri lamented that his achievements were ignored by local media.

“No South African media wrote about it, till date,” he said, adding that this selective reporting reflects hatred toward men of God.

Bushiri further accused the media of double standards in their coverage, contrasting how they praised Chris Brown’s fans for being “entertained” while describing his followers as “brainwashed.”

“Indeed, if you hate someone, even their most beautiful face looks ugly,” he remarked.

He went on to allege that the media’s actions were part of a broader agenda to undermine the gospel in South Africa, stating, “Soon South Africans will wake up to the real agenda happening in their land — hating men of God and celebrating evil. Diabolical!”

Bushiri’s comments have sparked discussions online, with supporters backing his claims of bias, while critics argue that his statements perpetuate division.
