Will the inquiry unveil the final chapter?
Malawians should expect to know the findings of a commission of inquiry into a plane crash that tragically claimed the lives of the then-State Vice President, Saulos Chilima, and eight others on June 10, 2024, at Nthungwa in Nkhata Bay.
The Commission of Inquiry, established by President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera under the Commissions of Inquiry Act, has completed its work and will present its final report tomorrow, Saturday, December 14, 2024.
According to a statement issued by Justice Jobbar Alide, Chairperson of the Commission, the report will be officially presented at 5:00 PM at the Golden Peacock Hotel in Lilongwe.
Following the presentation, the findings and recommendations will be submitted to President Chakwera for his review.
The Commission was tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash involving a Malawi Air Force Dornier 228 aircraft.
The tragic incident drew widespread public attention and raised urgent questions about aviation safety and protocol, prompting the need for a thorough investigation.
