Chakwera particularly emphasized the importance of the Government-to-Government fuel procurement system as a solution to Malawi’s ongoing fuel challenges.

However, the discussions expanded beyond fuel to include the broader Agricultural, Tourism, and Mining (ATM) strategy.

“I am happy that Abu Dhabi Fund for Development has accepted to co-finance the Mangochi-Makanjira Road Construction Project and now we can go ahead with the procurement of consultants and contractors to work on the project.” Chakwera noted,

This development will enable the procurement of consultants and contractors, marking a significant step forward in Malawi’s infrastructure development.

Overall, the visit demonstrated the strengthening of bilateral relations between Malawi and the UAE, with a focus on long-term investments that could improve the lives of Malawians.

“I am satisfied that we have a friend in the UAE who wants our relationship to develop with a focus on infrastructure development and various types of investment for Malawians to develop themselves.”
