Shaik (l): This encourages us to promote the sport

Airtel Malawi is reiterating its commitment to developing golf in the country.

It follows the conclusion of a two-day Airtel Business Golf Tournament at the Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) yesterday, an event that saw at least 140 golfers across the country battling for honors.

The company’s acting managing director Abdul Shaik described the tournament as a valuable platform for golfers to network and demonstrate their abilities.

“We are really happy to see the enthusiasm and the sportsmanship here in Blantyre for the two days which we have had this event. This encourages us to promote the sport and we look forward to more golf sponsorships,” said the Airtel boss.

Speaking after emerging champion in the ladies category, Bose Kamphulusa said it was an honor to wrap up the year with an accolade.

She said: “I am very happy to conclude the year of golf in style. I was focused and resilient. I am looking forward to future engagements.”

As a champion, Kamphulusa walked away with K600,000 just like seasoned private practice lawyer, John Suzi Banda did after winning the men’s category.

Speaking after wrapping up the event, BSC golf captain Mike Juma was all over the moon to have closed the calendar with the Airtel Malawi Business Golf Tournament.
