As the 2024 season sets
Relegation-bound Baka City wants to continue enjoying their dying moments in the TNM Super League.
Coach Kondwani Mwalweni’s boys have only won twice since joining the elite league, registering only 7 draws and losing a hefty 20 games.
The Karonga-based club has been an easy pick for most of the Super League teams as they have conceded more than 71 goals and have scored only 16 goals – a tally more than any other team on the league standings.
This was Mwalweni’s comment after Wednesday’s encounter with Silver Strikers FC: “We are currently just enjoying our stay in the league while assessing where we went wrong so that improvements can be made,”
Meanwhile, Silver mentor Peter Mponda says he is looking for more wins than goals as the season draws closer.
From 27 matches played thus far in the league, the central tankers have recorded 17 crucial wins and 10 draws to afford an unbeaten run in the TNM Super League.
Although the bankers come second on most goals scored by a single team at 52 against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 54 goals, Silver have conceded only 14 goals while Wanderers come second with 16 goals conceded.
Coming from a 2-0 win against relegated Baka City on Wednesday, Mponda highlights that the team is out for vital 3 points as they continue to chase the TNM Super League title.
“We need to win all our remaining games because goals will not decide the title,” Mponda said
