June 10 plane crash inquiry report to be submitted to President Chakwera on December 14
The 10 June Plane Crash Commission of Inquiry is set to present its findings and recommendations to President Lazarus Chakwera on December 14, according to Commission Chairperson Jabbar Alide.
In a second periodic update, Alide confirmed that the commission is wrapping up its evidence-gathering process today, November 26, and will now proceed to finalize its report.
“As of 22 November, the commission heard testimonies from over 120 witnesses,” Alide disclosed.
The inquiry, which investigates the plane crash on June 10 that claimed nine lives, including Vice President Saulos Chilima, has been conducted in four phases across Mzuzu, Zomba, Blantyre, and Lilongwe.
“We met the public, members of some bereaved families, and management and staff of various organizations with credible and relevant information regarding the plane crash,” Alide explained.
The commission’s findings aim to shed light on the causes of the tragedy and provide recommendations to prevent future incidents.
