All set for Phase Three of Voter Registration-MEC
The third phase of the voter registration exercise for Malawi’s 2025 elections is scheduled to run from November 28 to December 11, 2024.
This phase will cover six districts: Mzimba, Lilongwe, Mangochi, Mwanza, Chikwawa, and Nsanje.
According to Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Director of Media and Public Relations Sangwani Mwafulirwa the phase is going to run for 14 days and will cover the month of December.
“We have concluded the second phase of voter registration and we are proceeding to the third phase of voter registration and this phase is running from Thursday, this coming Thursday, which is the 20th of November to Wednesday, the 11th of December.
What we have seen and experienced is that there are some people who always come on the last day and they want to register with NRB and they also want to register as voters. So we are appealing to people to come as early as they can so that they register with NRAB in good time” he said.
Mwafulirwa has also revealed that the commission is currently reviewing the second phase of the exercise and that the outcome of the review will determine whether to extend the second phase or proceed as planned.
