Government pushes for greater awareness in GBV fight
The Ministry of Gender and Social Welfare is optimistic that Gender Based Violence (GBV) will be a thing of the past if communities are well-sensitized.
The minister responsible in the ministry Jean Sendeza made the remarks in Mchinji during the national conference of the projects being implemented by development partners of DCA/NCA in ending gender-based violence.
Sendeza is of the view that if non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders can take a leading role in conducting sensitization campaigns on the matter, the country will be able to fully eradicate GBV issues.
The conference which was hosted by Luntha Television attracted development partners such as Total Landa Care, Malawi Girl Guides Association, Assemblies of God Care and others.
Country Director for DCA/NCA Stefan Jansen says despite the country going through crises such as fuel shortages, they will continue to empower people economically for their financial independence.
