Voting commences at UTM Convention

Delegates at the UTM party convention in Mzuzu have begun casting their votes to elect new party leaders.
The convention, which has drawn close to 800 delegates from across the country, marks a pivotal moment for the party as it seeks to solidify its leadership structure ahead of the next general elections.
Four presidential candidates, Patricia Kaliati, Newton Kambala, Dalitso Kabambe, and Mathews Mtumbuka are among those vying for key positions in the party.
The voting process is being facilitated by the Mtendere Elections Support System, ensuring transparency and efficiency throughout the exercise.
The convention, also attended by officials from other political parties such as the DPP and PP, is being seen as a significant step in defining UTM’s political future.
Delegates are expected to cast their votes for various positions before the results are announced later in the day.
