Pasuwa triumphs over Mponda
Ernest Petro’s second-half strike helped FCB Nyasa Big Bullets claim the 2024 Airtel Top 8 Cup, marking their third championship title since the competition’s inception.
Petro’s well-timed header broke the deadlock and secured a victory over their rivals, cementing Big Bullets’ place as champions.
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ head coach, Calisto Pasuwa, praised his team for their disciplined performance.
“We played according to our plan, and the techniques we prepared worked well. This is a great achievement for a big team like Bullets,” Pasuwa said.
His counterpart, Peter Mponda, accepted the defeat graciously, acknowledging that his team had created enough chances to win but lacked the finishing touch.
“My players did what I asked of them to win this match, but Bullets found one opportunity and converted it to a goal—that’s how football is,” Mponda remarked.
This loss marks a tough period for the Silver Strikers, who were eliminated from two competitions within five days.
Panthers knocked them out in the round of 64 of the Castel Cup and are now defeated by FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the Airtel Top 8 final.
