Former President of Malawi, Peter Mutharika, has extended warm congratulations to U.S. President-elect Donald J. Trump following his election victory.
In a message on behalf of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and the people of Malawi, Mutharika praised Trump’s leadership and expressed optimism about the impact of his presidency on the global stage.
“Your leadership and vision for America have clearly resonated with the American people,” Mutharika said in his congratulatory Facebook post.
“We look forward to seeing the positive impact of your presidency on the global stage.”
Mutharika highlighted the shared democratic values between the United States and Malawi, noting his admiration for Trump’s commitment to economic growth, national security, and international cooperation.
“As a fellow leader and advocate for democratic values, I commend your commitment to promoting economic growth, national security, and international cooperation,” Mutharika wrote.
The former president also emphasized the potential for stronger bilateral relations between Malawi and the United States.
“We share a mutual interest in fostering stronger ties between our nations and exploring opportunities for shared benefit,” he said, expressing hope for collaborative initiatives under Trump’s leadership.
Mutharika who also aims to go back into power next year concluded his message with a warm note of encouragement, stating, “Please accept our warmest wishes for your success as you take on this important role. We eagerly anticipate future collaboration to further strengthen the relationship between Malawi and the United States.”
