SAIPS students donate porridge to Joshua Orphan Foundation
Students from St. Andrews International Primary School (SAIPS) in Blantyre have donated over 500 kilograms of porridge to the Joshua Orphan and Community Care Foundation.
The contribution, which is part of the celebration of World Porridge Day that falls on October 10 every year, aims to provide nutritious meals for children in need across Blantyre, supporting the foundation’s mission to fight child hunger.
“For many children, a daily meal means not only nutrition but also the ability to concentrate on school and secure a brighter future,” said Michelle Massey, Head Teacher at SAIPS.
SAIPS Head Girl Michella Masamba and Head Boy Zayd Patel expressed their pride in giving back, stating: “As children, we all have the right to education, and it’s important to give to other children in need. Together, we can all make a difference.”
According to Susan Gabon from Joshua Orphan and Community Care Foundation, feeding programs are among the most challenging to maintain, and donations like this have a substantial impact.
“We are grateful for the continued support from SAIPS, which makes a real difference in our early childhood programs,” Gabon remarked.
Throughout October, students from all year groups, backed by their teachers and parents, rallied to collect the porridge donation, which will be used in feeding programs that assist children’s educational and developmental needs.
