Kaliati to appear in court on monday
The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has announced that UTM party secretary general, Patricia Kaliati who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a felony, will appear in court on Monday next week.
This follows what the police describe as “steady progress” in their investigation into the high-profile case.
According to National Police Spokesperson, Peter Kalaya, the MPS has reached an “advanced stage” in its investigation.
“At this stage, MPS cannot reveal all details of the case to the public to protect its witnesses and avoid jeopardizing its investigation,” Kalaya explained.
He emphasized that the police are committed to ensuring transparency while upholding legal standards.
“The Service assures the nation in general and concerned stakeholders in particular that it is handling the case with utmost respect to fundamental human rights of the suspect,” he said.
The MPS has reiterated its dedication to handling the case with professionalism, emphasizing that due process will be observed.
