NICE Trust poised to drive electoral education

Maulidi: We will promote electoral integrity

The National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) Public Trust has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the public is well-informed about the upcoming electoral processes.

NICE Trust Programmes Officer for Blantyre, Glory Ngosi Maulidi committed in an interview with Capital FM.

She said the public trust, established to foster democratic values and civic engagement, will mobilize its vast network of civic educators, including area and zone coordinators, as well as key stakeholders from the Citizen Forum and District Advisory Forum.

“These groups will work together to disseminate vital electoral information, ensuring that citizens are not only aware of their rights but also encouraged to actively participate in the electoral process,” Maulidi stated.

With Malawi preparing for its next general elections, NICE is set to intensify efforts to engage communities across the country in voter education and registration.

A significant element of this initiative will involve the deployment of revolving observers who will monitor voter registration centers.

These observers are tasked with collecting daily statistics on registration turnout and helping to identify areas where additional mobilization efforts may be needed.

They will also ensure that the registration process is conducted efficiently and transparently, safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.

“Our role is to promote electoral integrity by ensuring that the voter registration exercise is transparent and that all eligible Malawians, regardless of their background, are allowed to register and vote,” she said.

As the country gears up for the upcoming elections, NICE’s efforts are critical to reinforcing trust in the electoral system and ensuring that every voice is heard.
