Mbewe gives Chakwera 14-day ultimatum on Chilima plane crash inquiry

Mbewe (L): Malawians have questions
Liberation for Economic Freedom (LEF) has given President Lazarus Chakwera a 14-day ultimatum to constitute a commission of inquiry into the plane crash that claimed the life of Vice President Saulos Chilima and eight others.
LEF President, David Mbewe, told people at a political rally in Blantyre that the tragic incident, which occurred on June 10, 2024, raises many questions, and thus, an inquiry is necessary.
“Malawians have questions that need answers, but surprisingly, the president is not responding to the call for a commission of inquiry,” he said.
Mbewe warned that if the 14-day ultimatum passes without any action, he will mobilize LEF supporters and other Malawians to protest.
“We will march to Parliament if the president fails to heed this call within 14 days,” he stated.
Mbewe joins many voices, including Vice President Chilima’s wife, Mary, and various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), who have recently made similar demands.
