National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has donated K10 million to the Presidential Charity Golf Tournament.

The proceeds from the two-day event, held on Friday and Saturday, will support flood victims and needy public university students.

William Chatsala, Head of Corporate Banking at NBM, expressed hope that their contribution will help move closer to the K600 million fundraising target. He also called on other corporates to join the cause.

Chatsala said, “As emphasized by His Excellency the President, the funds raised from this event will significantly contribute to supporting needy students in higher learning institutions and aiding in the reconstruction of our nation, particularly after the devastation caused by natural disasters.”

NBM officials stated that the Presidential Charity Golf Initiative reflects values of giving, unity, and collaboration, which align with the bank’s principles.

Sophie Mulumbe, trustee of the Presidential Charity Golf Tournament Organizing Committee, welcomed the donation and expressed optimism that it will support over 500 needy students and cyclone victims.

“We are happy to have a partner in National Bank of Malawi plc, which consistently supports our charitable causes. With such commitment, we are confident that we will surpass our goals in helping needy university students and those affected by cyclones Anna and Freddy,” Mulumbe said.

This year’s Presidential Charity Golf, launched by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on 17th September at Kamuzu Palace, will take place from 11th to 12th October at Limbe Country Club.
