Ivy-Mae foundation boosts digital learning in Malawi’s primary schools

Ivy-Mae Foundation has donated 10 laptops and 2 mini-tablets to Yolodani Full Primary School in Chilomoni, Blantyre aiming to improve digital learning for students at the facility.

This is part of an initiative specifically targeting Standard 1 to 6 students from selected schools across the country.

According to the Foundations Director Vitu Chiwaka, they plan on donating 10 laptops more laptops if the school’s authority prove that they can sustain the gadgets that are critical in the child’s learning process.

Chiwaka said: “We are committed to ensuring that every child has access to learning using computers because it is the best way which a child as young as these students can easily learn maths and English.”

“Depending on how they take care of these resources we surely will add another 10 laptops. We plan on donating at least 60 laptops per school to achieve full access to the gadgets,” Chiwaka said.

Yolodani Full Primary School Manager Nicholas Chingagwe welcomed the donation, citing its potential impact on students’ academic performance.

“This generous donation will revolutionize our teaching methods and improve student outcomes,” Chingagwe he said.

Desire Phiri, is one of the students at the school who received a mini tablet, expressed joy over getting the award for being an outstanding student and has since vowed to maximise for her education.

“I will use the tablet to enhance maths and literacy skills,” Phiri said joyously.

Elliot Phwitiko, an aspiring UTM ward councillor for Chilomoni, hailed the gesture by the charity organization.

Phwitiko said: “Our children are in dire need of such gadgets to advance their academics, especially in this digital era where most of the lessons can easily be accessed via computers.”
