Seven killed in Magalasi road accident

Police have confirmed that seven people were killed in a road accident that occurred yesterday along Magalasi Road in Blantyre.

Ndirande Police spokesperson, Maxwell Jailos, told Capital FM this morning that the accident involved a Toyota Dyna with registration number DZ 7873, whose driver, Davie Chigolo, lost control due to overspeeding.

“After passing Sharma’s residence, the driver lost control of the vehicle and swerved to the extreme near side of the road, where he eventually ended up hitting a tree,” said Jailos.

“Following the impact, seven unknown female passengers sustained various injuries and were pronounced dead upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital,” he added.

The vehicle had 37 people on board and was traveling from Magalasi Roundabout to Kameza Roundabout.
