Minister denies Likoma Island sale allegations

Minister of Tourism Vera Kamtukule has denied rumors that the government plans to sell Likoma Island.
Kamtukule clarified that the government has no intention of selling the island or relocating its people.
Instead, the government is developing a 20-year Tourism Master Plan, which includes projects to enhance tourism on the island.
Senior Chief Mkumpha III welcomed the minister’s clarification, saying it has alleviated fears among the islanders.
The government is committed to developing Likoma Island for the benefit of its people.
