Judge Manda takes legal action against lawyer Kamangila for defamation

High Court Judge Kenan Manda has launched a legal action against private lawyer Alexious Kamangila, demanding an apology and 250 million kwacha over defamatory remarks made on Kamangila’s Facebook page.
Kamangila faces accusations for multiple posts that allege Judge Manda is incompetent and corrupt.
Represented by Michael Goba Chipeta from GOBZ & RECHTSWISSENSCHAFT Legal Practitioners, Judge Manda claims these statements attack his character and have reached over 7,000 viewers, causing significant harm to his reputation.
According to the lawsuit in our possession, Judge Manda is seeking a written apology to be publicly posted on Kamangila’s Facebook page, clearly stating that the allegations are false.
He is also demanding an immediate cessation of any further defamatory remarks and compensation of K250 million for the damage caused.
Chipeta emphasized that Kamangila must meet these demands by Thursday, October 10, 2024 failure which legal proceedings seeking aggravated damages and the recovery of legal costs will follow.
Kamangira was however not available for an immediate comment on the matter.
