Chimtengo elected Chiradzulu council chairperson

Chiradzulu District Council has elected Councilor Patrick Chimtengo as its chairperson for the period leading up to the 2025 general elections.
Chimtengo, who represents Chikowa Ward in Chiradzulu South Constituency, secured 8 votes, defeating Councilor Chikondi Mkhula of Mtayamwana Ward in Chiradzulu North Constituency, who received 6 votes.
Meanwhile, there is a tie between Councilor Douglas Mkweza and Nelson Mwandama in the race for vice chairperson.
District Commissioner Francis Matewere has adjourned the elections for 30 minutes to allow the candidates to campaign again.
