Joyce Banda Foundation donates food items to Machinjiri residents

The Joyce Banda Foundation International has donated food items valued at approximately K4 million to support at least 200 households in Chinsinga Village, located in Traditional Authority (TA) Machinjiri, Blantyre.

This initiative aims to alleviate hunger in the area following a recent tragedy that impacted the community.

The donation includes maize and porridge flour (phala) and comes in the wake of an incident where two children from the same family tragically died after consuming what appeared to be cassava.

Two other children remain hospitalized as a result of the same incident.

Clement Malemia, the Foundation’s Program Coordinator, emphasized that this contribution is part of the Joyce Banda Foundation’s ongoing efforts to assist communities in need, ensuring that no one else has to resort to unsafe food sources.
