UDF to be torchbearer in 2025 polls
The United Democratic Front (UDF) incoming president, Atupele Muluzi says the party will be a torchbearer in the 2025 general elections.
Muluzi has made the remarks at the party convention currently underway in Blantyre.
He said: “Do not be cheated that we will rally our support behind someone else. We will lead the race.”
“I promise to conduct campaigns throughout the country so we sell our manifestos to everyone,” he added.
Muluzi took advantage of the convention to thank UDF followers for endorsing him to be their leader.
He said the country needs an individual of his caliber to lead it so the economy is revived.
“We also need uninterrupted water supply in our homes as it is most basic need. We also need to empower our women economically,” he said.
In her remarks, convention chairperson, Aisha M’mambo Adams said the party should uphold unity for them to triumph.
He also asked delegates at the convention to consider voting for women and youths in some positions as they hold party’s future.
