Malawi licences over 65,000 teachers
Ministry of Education in Malawi has announced that over 65,000 teachers have received their teaching licenses as of September 30, 2024.
Ministry spokesperson, Mphatso Nkuonera has confirmed adding that government has also extended the registration period to December 31, 2024.
“Initially, the deadline for teacher registration was set for September 30, 2024, but due to the overwhelming response, the Ministry has extended the deadline to December 31, 2024,” he said .
This extension will enable more teachers to comply with the licensing requirement, ensuring that they meet the necessary standards to teach in Malawian schools.
“We thank the teachers for complying with the laws by ensuring that they have licenses to teach, which will help in guarding the profession.”
The Teachers Council of Malawi, established in 2013, is responsible for overseeing teacher registration, licensing, and upholding teaching standards.
